Kickoff Breakfast, September 17

Join DCED Secretary C. Alan Walker and L&I Secretary Julia Hearthway and their teams on Wednesday, September 17, 8-10 a.m. for a JOBS1st Kick-Off Breakfast at the Hilton Garden Inn Pittsburgh/Southpointe (1000 Corporate Drive, Canonsburg, PA 15317) as we tour the area and meet with our partners to celebrate Southwest PA. Registration will begin at 8 a.m. and breakfast will be served at 8:30 a.m.

Wrap-Up Brunch, September 19

On Friday, September 19, reconnect with DCED Secretary C. Alan Walker, L&I Secretary Julia Hearthway and their teams over brunch as they share the many successes and feedback received during visits in Southwest Pennsylvania. The Wrap-Up Brunch will take place at the Conference Center at Saint Vincent College, located in the Fred M. Rogers Center (300 Fraser Purchase Road Latrobe, PA 15650). Registration will begin at 10 a.m. and the brunch will be served at 10:30 a.m.

L&I Secretary Hearthway Hosts Dress for Success “Suiting,” September 17

Join L&I Secretary Julia Hearthway and staff, Wednesday, September 17, 1-2 p.m. at the Dress for Success boutique (254 N. Main St., Washington, PA 15301) for client “suitings.” Dress for Success works closely with the local CareerLink to outfit clients for upcoming job interviews. We will also be collecting interview appropriate lady’s attire (suits, purses, shoes, accessories, etc.) at the event. For additional information, please visit:

JOBS1st PA Services Expo, September 18

On Thursday, Sept. 18, 1-3 p.m., join L&I and DCED staff at Westmoreland County Community College at Youngwood, (Founders Hall, 145 Pavilion Lane, Youngwood, PA 15697) to learn about services both agencies provide. The Expo will feature information from L&I: Unemployment Compensation (UC) Benefits, UC Tax, Workers’ Compensation, Youngwood CareerLink® and the Office of Vocational Rehabilitation and from DCED: WEDNetPA, Business Financing Programs and the Office of International Business Development. Please register below, but walk-ins are welcome.

Business Opportunities in Latin America Seminar, September 18

The Duquesne University Small Business Development Center is hosting a Latin American Business Opportunities in the Pacific Alliance Countries seminar on Thursday, September 18 9 a.m.–12 p.m. This seminar is perfect for manufacturers, technology and service companies looking to reach the Latin American market. The educational training will be held at Duquesne University-SBDC, Rockwell Hall, Room 108. Click here for registration and additional information.

EITC/OSTC Tax Credit Presentation, September 18

Join the DCED Center for Business Financing team Thursday, September 18, 11 a.m.–12:30 p.m. to learn about all aspects of the Educational Improvement Tax Credit Program (EITC) and the Opportunity Scholarship Tax Credit Program (OSTC). The presentation will be held at the St. Paul Seminary O’Connor Hall (2900 Noblestown Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15205) in The Great Hall (Banquet Room A). The event will also be used to educate any potential EITC/OSTC applicants on the processes of the programs and answer any questions. Additional information will be sent by email.
