Team PA announces Small Business Scholarship for Trade Mission

Team Pennsylvania Foundation announces it will provide funding for two $5,000 scholarships for two small businesses to participate in Governor Corbett’s Jobs First mission to Brazil and Chile this April.

Team PA has also funded and launched a new website that will serve as a portal to all news concerning the mission at paglobal.org. The Foundation funded Governor Corbett’s first mission to France and Germany in March 2012 at no cost to taxpayers and is also funding the mission to South America.

Qualifying small businesses interested in applying for one of the two $5,000 scholarships can obtain the application at the new website, and other businesses looking to open the door to new markets can also apply to participate in the trip at paglobal.org

“Team PA is proud to provide an opportunity for two small businesses, which might not have the capital, to market their products and services to an international audience,” Zieger said. “Team PA and its partners at the Department of Community and Economic Development recognized the need to offer funding assistance to enhance the capabilities of small- and medium-sized Pennsylvania companies looking to participate in this event.”

The small business application, which is due by Jan. 1, 2013, will be judged by the members of the newly created International Business Advisory Board

Among the qualifications, interested Pennsylvania companies must:

  • Be in good standing with the Pennsylvania Department of Revenue;
  • Ensure their FEIN is linked to a Pennsylvania mailing address;
  • Have no more than 250 full-time employees at time of application;
  • Have been in business for at least 3 years

Team PA created and funded the website to provide details to its partners across the commonwealth about the mission.

“This website will serve as a tool to educate and inform, and help keep people updated with the latest developments regarding the mission,” Zieger said. “We’ve placed an emphasis on providing direct and easy access to updated and useful information concerning the mission.”

During the mission, the website will be updated daily and house social media updates.
