DCED and the Rendell administration have worked dilgently over the past five years to create a business friendly climate. The list below are just some of the accolades the Rendell administration has received for these efforts.

•Ben Franklin Technology Partners were awarded the International Economic Development Council's (IEDC) Technology Based Economic Development Award in October 2008.
•Area Development Magazine gave a Silver Shovel to Pennsylvania in 2008 and 2007 in the "Over 10 million Population" category.
•Pennsylvania's Keystone Innovation Zone program gained national recognition in January 2008 from the National Governors Association's Center for Best Practices. It also has gained recognition from the Pew Center on the States.
•The project that won Business Facilities Magazine 2007 Economic Development Deal of the Year (EDDY) Gold Award was the Westinghouse Electric Company.
•In May 2006, the Pennsylvania Business Retention & Expansion Program received the Business Retention and Expansion International (BREI) 2006 Statewide/Provincewide Program.
•Pennsylvania ranked 6th in Site Selection Magazine's 2006 Governor's Cup, which lists the Top Ten States in 2005 by number of projects.
•Pennsylvania received the 2006 Excellence in Economic Development Award in the Enhancing Regional Competitiveness category.
•IBM Business Consulting Services, Plant Location International, recognized Pennsylvania as the number one destination for new projects and named the commonwealth to be the top location for manufacturing orihects in all of North America in 2005.
•CoreNet Global 2005 Economic Development Leadership & Accomplishment Awards, Leadership & Innovation and Major Projects / Deals.

•Pennsylvania is first in the nation for Steel Industry Cluster (Center for Industry Studies, 2008).
•Pittsburgh ranks first among the Forecasted Business Rent Growth Market (CIRE Magazine, September 2008).
•Pennsylvania is the nation's largest producer of hardwood lumber (Carlisle Sentinel, August 2008).
•Pittsburgh is first in the nation when it comes to growth in venture capital investment (PriceWaterhouseCoopers National Venture Capital Association MoneyTree Report, 2008)
