PA Grabs Attention at BIO International Convention
DCED Secretary Dennis M. Davin and key members of DCED’s senior staff headed to California this month for the 2016 BIO International Convention at the Moscone Center in San Francisco. The Pennsylvania Pavilion, coordinated and led by Pennsylvania Bio, buzzed with activity the duration of the show, which boasted a total attendance of 16,000. The Pennsylvania Pavilion captured attention by showcasing the strengths of PA’s universities and life sciences industry to biotech professionals across the globe. Joe Burke, Deputy Secretary for International Business Development, discussed investment opportunities with a number of interested companies ranging from large pharmaceutical manufacturers to diagnostics companies.
While in California, DCED hosted an event for site selection consultants designed to develop relationships with the east-coast site selection community and highlight business opportunities in Pennsylvania. The evening event was led by Secretary Davin along with Sheri Collins, Deputy Secretary Technology and Innovation, and Brent Vernon, Director of the Governor’s Action Team.
In support of the PA life sciences, DCED produced new resources highlighting the mature life sciences ecosystem within the state.
