Program Funding Types

Grants

A grant is a non-repayable sum of money awarded for a specified purpose. We have a variety of grant programs available, from those that fund research and development projects and police regionalization to those that assist startup businesses and flood control projects.

Loans

A loan is a lent sum of money that is paid back with interest. You can find loans here for funding projects in distressed communities, jump-starting small businesses and more.

Examples of Loans: Community Economic Development Loan Program, Business Opportunities Fund, New PA Venture Capital Investment Program

Loan Guarantees

A loan guarantee is a promise by a lender to assume the debt obligations of a borrower if he or she defaults on a loan.

Examples of Loan Guarantees: First Industries Fund, Keystone Communities Program, Second Stage Loan Program

Tax Credits

Tax credits are sums of money awarded to help offset specific taxes associated with various activities, such as expanding a business, investing in a particular industry or donating capital to scholarship programs.
