College & University Partners
Partnerships between Pennsylvania universities and businesses put technology on the fast track to commercialization and the marketplace.
We work with regional economic development organizations to implement an end-to-end strategy for transitioning technology from Pennsylvania's universities into commercial products that are designed, engineered, produced, marketed and sold by companies based in the state. This partnership enables regional economic growth by utilizing this business-friendly environment to attract new companies.
Pennsylvania is a major leader in technological and scientific-based economic development. With dozens of programs and grant opportunities in place for businesses in various stages of growth, the Keystone State has jumpstarted hundreds of businesses, marketed scores of new, innovative technologies from its universities and created thousands of jobs, all of which have culminated in what is a prime location packed with opportunity for emerging businesses and scientific research.
Many of these progams are designed to promote stronger synergy between university-based research and development and the transfer of technology as it relates to economic and work force development.
DCED takes a proactive approach to working with our higher education institutions in order to engage the international marketplace. Through our international network of overseas offices DCED helps universities, colleges, and research institutions with international student recruitment and building relationships with overseas partners for education cooperation. Additionally, our academic community actively works with DCED to help address business concerns regarding workforce development, R&D projects, and joint venture collaborations.
