$1.9 Million Expansion Creates Boost in Production
To keep up with the growing market demand for pre-cast stone, United Stone Veneer sought to expand its business with the help of $1.5 million in job training grants, job creation tax credits, and equipment funding.
Problem
United Stone Veneer saw the fast-growing market demand for pre-cast stone and they knew they had to react by growing their business.
Funding & Programs
The Department of Community and Economic Development, through the Governor’s Action Team, offered the company an investment package of state funding totaling $1.5 million that included:
- Customized Job Training
- Job Creation Tax Credits
- A Machinery and Equipment Loan
- An Opportunity Grant
Resolution
United Stone Veneer is meeting market demand and seeing a 75 to 100 percent boost in production as a result of their $1.9 million expansion, which includes adding 35 new jobs, 50,000 square feet of facility space, and two additional automation pieces.
"Demand for the product is the main reason for the expansion," said United Stone Veneer president, David Barrett. "Our customers have always been a big part of our decisions, and we feel that added capacity will allow us to serve more customers."
