PITT OHIO EXPRESS
LTL Carrier Expands Service Offerings
PITT OHIO EXPRESS adds contract vehicle maintenance, logistics services, safety and risk management, and business intelligence solutions to its core less-than-truckload carrier service.
Problem
PITT OHIO needed to expand its business to increase revenue and continue along the path of success.
Funding & Programs
The Workforce and Economic Development Network of Pennsylvania was there to provide Guaranteed Free Training to PITT OHIO employees.
Resolution
Headquartered in Pittsburgh, PITT OHIO EXPRESS has been a successful less-than-truckload (LTL) carrier since 1979. As part of becoming a more knowledge-based, customer-driven organization, PITT OHIO launched several new services outside of its core operations, including contract vehicle maintenance, logistics services, safety and risk management, and business intelligence solutions.
All of these new services leverage PITT OHIO's core competencies against external commercial opportunities, enhancing the company's revenue while reducing overall structural costs. The company's non-traditional services are expected to yield $15 million to $25 million in revenue by 2008, as well as create local job opportunities.
