Relocation to Pennsylvania Contributes to Profitable Growth

Olympus America, a leader in healthcare products and consumer electronics, relocates its North American headquarters and distribution center to the Lehigh Valley with the help of $12 million in Commonwealth funding.

Problem

Olympus America needed to position itself for future growth by saving money, and moving its North American headquarters and distribution center from Long Island, New York was key.

Funding & Programs

Olympus America chose Pennsylvania over all other states. Here's why:

  • Assistance from the Governor's Action Team to evaluate the region and select the perfect site
  • $12 million in Commonwealth funding
  • $10 million from the Department of Transportation to upgrade the roadway at Route 309 and Center Valley Parkway
  • State and local tax abatement for up to 12 years as a result of its location in a Keystone Opportunity Zone.

Resolution

When Olympus America decided to relocate its North American headquarters and distribution center from Long Island, New York, the company considered several states as possible destinations. Pennsylvania made the cut and was chosen home for the company’s headquarters as a result of the state's low cost of living, economic assistance programs, and friction-free business environment.
